چکیده

The LAO-GDC solid composite electrolyte has been proposed for use in Solid Oxide Fuel Cells (SOFC). material conductivity of Carbonate-Ceria (SCC) electrolytes is 0.04Scm-1 between 400 and 700°C. For this purpose, mixtures LaAlO3 (LAO) gadolinium doped ceria Ce0.8Gd0.2O2 (GDC) were created weight ratios 3:1, 2:2, 1:3. was studied separately to improve conductivity. phase structure microstructure using an X-Ray Diffractometer (XRD) Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), the electrical behavior investigated Impedance Spectroscopy (IS). SEM Energy Dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX) demonstrated a compact with acceptable atomic percentage constituent elements uniform grain distribution. Experimental investigation showed that had high density (LAO)-Ce0.8Gd0.2O2 composites approximate 97% its theoretical. highest value 0.1Scm-1 at 700°C, which more extreme than individual conductivities LAO GDC, according Electrochemical (EIS) techniques. Among three system, only ratio 3:1 better higher activation energy 1.5eV.

Improvement of ionic conductivity of gadolinium doped ceria electrolyte with nano CuO sintering aid

Gadanium doped cerium oxide ceramic (GDC) is widely used as solid electrolytes in solid oxide fuel cells because of its high oxygen ion conductivity. In this study, the effect of addition of nano CuO as a sintering aid on the properties of GDC electrolyte were investigated. For this purpose, 0.2, 0.5, and 1% mole of nano Cuo was added to GDC ceramics, which was synthesized by the solid-state me...

A study of gadolinia-doped ceria electrolyte by electrochemical impedance spectroscopy

Samples of Gd2O3-doped CeO2 (GDC) were fabricated by sintering of powder compacts. Impedance spectra were measured from 400 C to 675 C in air by electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS). Above w500 C, high frequency arc was not semicircular but could be fitted with a constant phase element (CPE). Abovew625 C, high frequency arc could not be resolved due to a significant contribution from th...

Ordered structures of defect clusters in gadolinium-doped ceria.

The nano-domain, with short-range ordered structure, has been widely observed in rare-earth-doped ceria. Atomistic simulation has been employed to investigate the ordering structure of the nano-domain, as a result of aggregation and segregation of dopant cations and the associated oxygen vacancies in gadolinium-doped ceria. It is found that the binding energy of defect cluster increases as a fu...

Electrochemical behavior of thin-film Sm-doped ceria: insights from the point-contact configuration.

The electrochemical behavior of chemical vapor deposition (CVD) grown porous films of Sm-doped ceria (SDC) for hydrogen oxidation has been evaluated by impedance spectroscopy using a point contact geometry at a temperature of 650 °C. Porous SDC films, 950 nm in thickness, were deposited on both sides of single-crystal YSZ(100). Pt paste was applied over the surface of one SDC layer to create a ...

High electrochemical activity of the oxide phase in model ceria-Pt and ceria-Ni composite anodes.

Fuel cells, and in particular solid-oxide fuel cells (SOFCs), enable high-efficiency conversion of chemical fuels into useful electrical energy and, as such, are expected to play a major role in a sustainable-energy future. A key step in the fuel-cell energy-conversion process is the electro-oxidation of the fuel at the anode. There has been increasing evidence in recent years that the presence...
